Knowing Jesus! Growing in Jesus! Sharing Jesus!

(Jesus said)  "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."  (Matthew 28:18b-20, ESV)

Our Saviour's Lutheran Church takes these words of our Lord Jesus Christ seriously.  As a result, we're rather active in missions both at home and overseas.  We do this in many ways.

Through our benevolence (mission) giving, we financially support several ministries outside of the walls of our local church and our community.  From mission congregations, to prison ministry, to overseas missionaries, we assist those who wish to reach out in Word and Sacrament to those who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In addition, we also have a history of sending groups from within our own congregation on various mission trips.  Each year, a group of high school age youth and some adults go on a week long mission trip through Group Workcamps.  Our next Workcamp mission trip will be going to Midland, Michigan July 18th-24th, 2010.  While on the trip, the group spends time helping underprivilidged people with home improvement and construction projects, and spends time in Bible study and prayer, as they learn first hand what the life of Christian service is all about.

In 2007, we sent a group of 4 women to Uganda on a short term mission trip.

As a part of our Centennial celebrations, Our Saviour's began a Centennial fund in 1999, for which monies given to this fund would be distrubuted at the end of the Centennial year to various ministries beyond the walls of our church, such as Lutheran colleges and seminaries, mission congregations, foreign missionaries, and other ministries proposed by the congregation.  What better way to give thanks to God for blessing us with His forgiveness, life, and salvation offered to us through Jesus Christ than by enabling people and organizations to bring the Gospel of Christ to others beyond our walls.
